The renovation of Villa Dubochet in Clarens was a true challenge for the general contractor, both technically and historically. This project, executed with great rigor, required a deep understanding of the issues surrounding heritage conservation while meeting contemporary demands for layout and comfort.
Achieving a delicate balance between preserving the building’s history and modernizing its living spaces was no easy task. The architect played a key role in this process, guiding the contractor through the various historical stages and ensuring the architectural heritage of the villa was respected. Every element of the façade and each interior detail were carefully studied to preserve the essence of the place while integrating modern, functional amenities.
One of the main challenges was adapting the building to current standards while complying with the strict guidelines set by the Department of Monuments and Sites of the Canton of Vaud. Adhering to legislative requirements and constraints imposed by the heritage protection authorities required close collaboration between the contractor, the architect, and the relevant authorities. This cooperation led to creative solutions that successfully completed the renovation while honoring the villa’s authenticity.
The works covered several aspects, including the restoration of the façade, which regained its former splendor, and the transformation of the interior spaces.
The layout of a new office, living room, and two bedrooms on the second floor required a subtle reorganization of the space, taking into account the building’s structural constraints. Additionally, all interior floors and walls were completely renovated, blending tradition with modernity. The bathrooms, another central aspect of the project, were completely redesigned to offer modern comfort while maintaining the villa’s historic character.
This renovation of Villa Dubochet is not just a technical challenge but also a commitment to preserving and enhancing architectural heritage while meeting contemporary needs.
