t was a great challenge to set to work on an old, historic Fribourg farm located in the village of Massonnens. This building had to be done up from A to Z, including every technical aspect — from the façade to the interior — as well as the redistribution of spaces with the aim of creating a warm and functional family home for an English couple with many children and grandchildren.

From the outset, the project faced significant challenges: the farmhouse was in a state of complete ruin, requiring not just renovation but a true reconstruction effort. The historical character of the building added a further layer of complexity, as all work had to be carried out in close collaboration with the Department of Historical Monuments of the Canton of Fribourg. Preserving the heritage elements while integrating modern standards of comfort and functionality demanded both architectural sensitivity and technical ingenuity.

The large surface area of the farm allowed for the creation of several generous living spaces, including a spacious dining room and multiple bedrooms, each equipped with its own bathroom — ensuring both intimacy and conviviality for the whole extended family.
